Privacy policy
Effective July 25, 2026
The short version
FlightRecord is a read-only statistics site. There are no user accounts, no comment forms, and nothing to sign up for. We aim to collect as little about you as technically possible.
What is collected
- Server logs. Our hosting infrastructure records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and capacity purposes. These are retained by the hosting provider per its own policy and are not used to profile individuals.
- Email. If you write to support@flightrecord.app, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to handle it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage — which pages are visited and roughly where traffic comes from. It sets cookies and collects device and usage information as described in Google’s privacy policy. We use this data only in aggregate; we do not build individual profiles or sell data. You can block analytics with any content blocker or Google’s opt-out browser add-on — the site works identically without it.
We also use PostHog for product analytics, including aggregate session recordings and click heatmaps that help us see which sections of a page are actually read. PostHog may set cookies or local storage identifiers and is described in PostHog’s privacy policy. As with Google Analytics, we use this data only in aggregate to improve the site — we do not sell it or use it to build ad profiles.
Beyond analytics, the site runs no advertising or social-media trackers. If that changes, this page will be updated first and the effective date above will change.
The flight data
All flight statistics are aggregates computed from the US DOT Bureau of Transportation Statistics public dataset. They describe flights, not people, and contain no personal information.
